Hello everyone,
We’ve reached the final week of the Business House League season, with finals being played this Tuesday and our end‑of‑season prize giving taking place after the games at the clubhouse. It’s a great chance to finish the season together, celebrate the cricket that’s been played, and enjoy a proper end‑of‑season catch‑up.
Match details for Finals along with a few important notes for after the games, including food and logistics for the prize giving.
B&T v Team Suss & Grace at Onewa 2
Barrys Battlers v Six Offenders at McFetridge Park
Late Cutters v Mitre10 Tech Sloggers at Onewa 1
Taka Pressies v Runs in the Family at Sunnynook Park 1A
There are some great match‑ups across both Cup and Plate, and it should be a competitive night of cricket to bring the playing side of the season to a close.
After the games, the club will be hosting our end‑of‑season prize giving, and we’ll also be shouting pizzas for everyone who comes back to the clubhouse to celebrate and catch up. For catering purposes, we’ll need confirmation of which teams will be returning after their games and, most importantly, numbers. I’ll be setting up a poll in the WhatsApp group, but you’re also very welcome to email me directly to confirm attendance, just please make sure numbers are included so we can plan properly.
To help make the night a bit more festive, our bar manager has kindly offered to stock Guinness for the St Patrick’s Day celebrations, so feel free to get stuck into that and help make the end‑of‑season get‑together a good one.
A quick reminder as well to please bring all club gear bags back to the clubhouse after your game so we can restock and get organised for next season. The only exceptions are Taka Pressies and B&T, as you didn’t collect any gear at the beginning of the season.
While there’s plenty of focus on finals cricket this week, it’s also a good opportunity to get everyone together one last time and enjoy what BHL is really about. The sense of community, the willingness of teams to turn up every week, work around weather challenges, and keep communication flowing has been a real strength of this competition. It would be great to see as many teams as possible back at the clubhouse together after the games to cap off the season in good spirit.
A big thank you again to all teams, and especially to the captains and conveners for consistently pulling teams together, dealing with the weekly logistics, putting up with the weather, and keeping communications up, particularly delivering clear and timely scoresheets throughout the season.
More to come shortly with a proper season summary, but for now, good luck to everyone for the finals and enjoy the cricket and the night at the club.
