Neil Fletcher to coach Takapuna Pirates

The Club is very pleased to announce Neil Fletcher as the coach of the TDCC Premier Men’s and Premier Reserves teams for the 2021/22 season. Long-time followers of Taka cricket will remember Neil from his very successful stint as the Coach of the TDCC Premier Mens from 2009 to 2013. During that period under Neil’s coaching, the TDCC Premier Men’s team won the ACA Premier 2-day championship in his first two seasons, as well as the1-day Auckland Championship and then the National Club title.

Neil is a NZC Level 3 High Performance Cricket Coach with over 25 years’ experience as a team coach and has held Head Coach positions for Auckland A and Canterbury representative teams, as well as a number of Premier Club teams throughout New Zealand.

Neil is looking forward to coaching TDCC again and his philosophies are “to create and cultivate a strong and positive team environment so that players have a sense of commitment to each other and are able to work together towards a common goal.  Neil is also driven to promote a positive style of cricket by developing and enhancing players’ natural flair, allowing them to express their own individual style and to competeto the best of their ability and perform at their highest”.

TDCC Director of Cricket Amita Weerakoon said “we are delighted to have Neil returning to Taka Cricket and to have a coach with such vast experience available to bring the best out of our players.We are also delighted to have the large number of young talented cricketers coming through our senior and youth ranks, and we believe that Neil’s extensive knowledge and experience in technical, mental and tactical skills will help to further develop all our players’ skills and cricket knowledge to enable them to perform at their best at the Premier level”.
